When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a "looper" - a hired gun, is waiting to mop up.
Joe is a looper.
Joe is getting rich and life is good. A (somewhat) normal 30 year-old guy, he enjoys nights out on the town with his friends, red sports cars, and his job.
Obviously I haven’t seen the film so all this is my take on Looper.
The current point in muse’s timeline takes place before the mob decides to close the loop.
